About Us

We are the NHS Wales e-Library

What we do.

The NHS Wales e-Library is the national digital library advancing knowledge across health and social care in Wales.

Our purpose is to procure and provide high quality and reliable digital resources to support, evidence-based practice, learning and research.

Whether you’re seeking a quick reference from our Medicines Information resources; catching up on the latest articleschapters, and journals; or browsing through clinical decision support tool overviews, our library of online resources provides 24/7 access - whether it’s from your clinic, on the ward, in the community, or working out-of-hours and bank holidays.

Why we do what we do.

When searching for answers, who do you trust? What do you trust in the quest for evidence? Where do you go to find reliable information – the ‘right’ information.

In a world congested with outdated and often misleading information, sometimes it is hard to know.

The NHS Wales e-Library works alongside Library and Knowledge Services across Health and Care in Wales to guide you on that search. We provide safe, dependable access to knowledge and evidence for users, regardless of professional background or geographical location.

We do what we do because we promote information literacy. We believe that ‘right’ information should be available to you – for your work and for the people you care for.

How we do what we do.

We’re committed to maintaining and improving ourselves.

That’s why we regularly review our e-resources and services.

Besides making sure they are available when you need them to be, we make sure each is worthwhile and worth the cost.

We do this in many ways. One is through regular contract management and procurement planning - speaking with our suppliers about how ably they deliver their products.

Another is reviewing each resource’s usage statistics – discovering what is and isn’t being used - and understanding why.

Lastly and most importantly, we listen to you – our users. Your feedback improves our services and keeps us moving forward. https://elh.nhs.wales/have-your-say/

So when you do what you do, we have the tools at the ready.

  • And if you’re looking for subjects other than health and medicine? No problem. We subscribe to a wide range of subjects including workforce and organisational development, leadership, digital transformation and more.

  • If something isn’t working as expected, let us know! It’s important to report it in case there’s a wider issue that needs investigating. There’s no such thing as a silly question. Just pop an email to elibrary@wales.nhs.uk and we’ll look into it right away.
