The Welsh Medicines Advice Service (WMAS) provides specialist local, regional and national services and supports the work of the local medicines advice services across Wales.
Enquiry answering services for medicines-related questions from healthcare professionals are provided for each health board, and certain services have patient helplines for questions from members of the public. Find details of your local service on the WMAS website.
The Joint United Kingdom Blood Transfusion and Tissue Transplantation Services Professional Advisory Committee (JPAC) provides guidelines and advisory resources for blood transfusion services in the UK.
TravelHealthPro is a website comprising the travel health resources of the UK’s National Travel Health Network and Centre. It provides country-by-country travel health information with daily surveillance of outbreaks occurring around the globe. The site includes clinical updates detailing important global health events and advances in travel medicine and evidence-based information material on travel-related risks and disease.
The Specialist Pharmacy Service (SPS) is a team of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and support staff, commissioned by NHS England, to provide specialist advice and guidance on medicines for use by health care professionals. Access to some resources is restricted to NHS staff, and so users are encouraged to register for a personal account (top RHS of homepage) and always login before searching for information to gain full benefit.

Designed for hospital pharmacists at the start of their careers, the Medicines Learning Portal provides resources, advice and guidance in tackling clinical problems. It recommends sources of information about medicines, addresses basic principles of medicines safety for key subject areas, and guides pharmacists on how to apply their professional judgement. Some content may also be of interest to hospital pharmacy technicians, community pharmacists, primary care pharmacists, and pharmacists returning to hospital practice after a career break.
The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) is an executive agency of the Department of Health and Social Care in the United Kingdom which is responsible for ensuring that medicines and medical devices work and are acceptably safe. The MHRA has several independent advisory committees which provide the UK Government with information and guidance on the regulation of medicines and medical devices.
The electronic Medicines Compendium (eMC) contains current information about UK-licensed medicines checked and approved by UK Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) and the European Medicines Agency (EMA). It is run by Datapharm Ltd. eMC does not cover all UK licensed medicines as pharmaceutical companies can choose not to publish on eMC, but they will be published on the relevant regulatory authority site (MHRA/EMA)
The All Wales Therapeutics and Toxicology Centre is an NHS Wales organisation linking patients, carers, patient organisations, healthcare professionals, pharmaceutical industries, Welsh Government and other relevant UK-wide services to advise on new medicines and make sure medicines are used effectively and appropriately in Wales.
The Renal Drug Handbook is compiled from the UK Renal Pharmacy Group. It features drug monographs guiding physicians in how to prescribe, prepare, and administer drugs to patients undergoing renal replacement therapy. It also provides reviews of drug utilization in renal units across the UK.
