Improvements made to Database Resources Page

The Database Resources webpage has been updated to provide clearer descriptions on the types of databases available, their scope and whether they are available via an e-Library subscription or free to use.

NHS Wales e-Library provides access to bibliographic, full-text, citation and   repositories to all authorised users of the e-Library, supporting research for Health  and Care teams in Wales.

The e-Library subscribed databases will require you to sign in with either your NHS Wales email address and network password or your NHS Wales OpenAthens account. If you don’t have either of these accounts but are eligible to access, you can self-register for an OpenAthens account or contact us for further support.  The freely available databases and repositories won’t require you to sign in.

The page URL (link) is still the same: https://elh.nhs.wales/databases/ so, there is no need to update links from other sites or bookmarks.

Further support

Help with Literature Searching and Database Searching can be found from the NHS Wales e-Library’s Support section, which contains detailed information and guidance toward using available e-resources.

More specialised and enhanced training and guidance should be sought from your local Knowledge, Information and Library services, which can be found here:  https://elh.nhs.wales/library-services/

If you are unsure who you can approach for further help and guidance with literature searching, email elibrary@wales.nhs.uk and we'll help signpost you to the most appropriate service or department for you.

Additionally, the NHS Wales Library and Knowledge Service’s Training Group and e-Library team regularly run online webinars which introduce literature searching. Watch the latest recording of Finding Information on our website.

Have a suggestion?

The NHS Wales e-Library also continues to welcome your recommendations for further high-quality resources, including additional databases and repositories you would like to see included in the collection.

Please email elibrary@wales.nhs.uk with any questions, recommendations, or suggestions for training sessions.
